Spot on. I have gotten multiple offers to interview with Nvidia, Google, Facebook (both before the legal fiasco), and others. I’ve turned them down every time because it would require moving to the Valley and dealing with CA’s ridiculous taxes. The tech work in my current city isn’t exciting (everyone wants Python to do everything it was never designed for, and there’s quite a demand for Cobol), but I’ll take the naive leadership and legacy tech problem over CA’s cost of living.
